This guide will walk you through completing a client profile in the Lightning Reach portal. Follow these steps to ensure the profile is fully updated and ready for applications.

Accessing your client's profile
1. First, select your client within the Client Manager. For more details on how to select a client, refer to this article: Client Manager Guide.
2. Click “My profile”
Once in the client’s account, select My profile to begin the profile completion process. If the profile has already been completed, you can click My profile again to update individual sections as needed.

Saving progress with “Continue”
The Continue button at the bottom of each section saves your progress as you go. Profiles don’t need to be completed in one session; data is saved each time you move to the next screen by pressing Continue.
Editing the profile later
Profiles can be updated later if your client’s circumstances change. There’s no need to redo the profile multiple times for the same client. Simply return to the client’s profile and make the necessary adjustments.
Working through the profile
The profile setup process is designed to be intuitive. Follow these tips for a smooth experience:
- Ensure you carefully work through each section and answer all questions accurately.
- Pay attention to any mandatory questions marked with an asterisk (*). These fields must be completed to proceed.
- If a mandatory field is left blank, the Continue button will not activate, and you won’t be able to move forward.
- Important: The more information provided in the profile, the more accurate the Support Matches will be.
Benefits check question
During the profile setup, you’ll encounter the benefits check question within the finances part of the profile. See the below screenshot for reference:
If you select "yes", you will gain access to the Benefits Calculator, allowing you to check your client’s entitled benefits in the Support Match area once the profile is complete.
This tool allows you to input your client’s details to see which benefits they may be entitled to claim.
- The calculator is free to use.
- All details provided are anonymous.
Consent question
The consent question is the final step in the profile setup. This section asks for permission to use sensitive personal information, such as religion, ethnicity, and sexual orientation, to help match your client with additional support options.
Important: For this question, it’s crucial that you, as the support worker, have your client’s explicit consent to share this sensitive information. This data is used solely to improve the accuracy of support matches and is handled in accordance with data protection laws.
Final page - check answers
At the end of the profile setup, you’ll be prompted to review your client’s information. Take care to:
- Review the marketing consent box: Selecting this box ensures we can keep you updated on support options that may be available to your client through the Lightning Reach portal.
- Make adjustments for changes: If your client’s circumstances change, you can easily update their profile by returning to the profile screen. You will be taken to this page where you can select individual sections of the profile to edit as needed.
