What is the Lightning Reach portal and why are Ben using it?
Ben are working with Lightning Reach to make the funding application process as quick and safe as possible for you. Lightning Reach is a social impact startup that uses secure and modern technology to make it easier for people to apply for financial support.
Using the Lightning Reach portal allows you to:
Easily and securely connect your online bank accounts to share the financial information needed, instead of sending bank statements
Create a profile that can help you find and apply for financial support from other providers, all in one place
How does it work?
You’ll first receive an email from security@lightningreach.org inviting you to use the Lightning Reach portal.
Click the link in the email to verify your email address. This step helps make sure access is only given to the right person.
Once your email is verified, you’ll be taken to the platform, where you can connect your bank accounts and upload the documents needed by Ben.
Who is Plaid?
Plaid is a technology provider that Lightning Reach works with to connect securely to your bank. Plaid is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (Firm Reference Number: 804718). They are a trusted partner to a wide range of financial services, including high street banks and financial apps.
If I connect my account, what will Ben staff see?
If you choose to use the Lightning Reach platform, the Ben grants team will be able to view three months’ worth of financial information for the bank accounts you connect (if any). They will also be able to see any other documents you upload.
Neither Ben nor Lightning Reach can make any changes to your bank account or carry out any transactions.
Who will see my financial information?
Your personal financial information is only shared with the Ben grants team. No one else will be able to see it.
I don’t want to use Lightning Reach – is there another way I can provide my bank statements?
Yes. If you do not wish to use Lightning Reach, you can email your bank statements to your case manager, or send them to casemanager.info@ben.org.uk.
When will I find out the outcome of my application?
Once your case manager has received and reviewed your information, they will get in touch within 5 working days to discuss your support with Ben.
